The morning atmosphere in Telaga Bhakti Village, Aceh Singkil, was lively. Telaga Bhakti Village hosted the Environment Day activities and the Proklim (Climate Village Program) Decree awarding. ProKlim, or Climate Village Program, is a national-scale movement launched by the Minister of Environment and Forestry to control climate change.
Telaga Bhakti Village, which is the Ring 1 Village of PT Perkebunan Lembah Bhakti (PLB), succeeded in becoming the Trustee of the Telaga Bhakti Proklim Village, which was named one of the Proklim recipients in the District, North Singkil, Aceh Singkil Regency.
PT PLB has been utilized to facilitate climate change control activities in collaboration with the Aceh Singkil Environment Agency (DLH). Activities include providing 161 fruit trees for reforestation.
PT PLB has also supported the Semangkup (“Reduce Plastic Spirit”) program by distributing hundreds of goodie bags to residents, especially the women of the community, to replace shopping plastics. It has also distributed several trash bins, educating about separating and sorting organic, non-organic, and B3 waste to maintain environmental cleanliness and support the climate.
The Head of the Environmental Agency, Surkani, who attended the event, expressed his pride and hope that Telaga Bhakti Village, including PT PLB as the supervisor, can maintain the pro-climate title as a model for other villages.
“The climate village program aims to shape a more environmentally and economically focused sustainable village while reducing the impacts of climate change by involving communities and stakeholders to improve the village’s adaptive capacity to climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions,” said Surkani in his opening speech (31/07/2024).
Surkani added that Telaga Bhakti Village has carried out various climate change mitigation and adaptation programs, such as sustainable natural resource management, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and increasing public awareness of climate change, so it can be named a Proklim Village.
In line with what was conveyed by Faisal, as PJ Regent of Aceh Singkil, he expressed his appreciation to all parties involved in the activities and programs that have been carried out by village officials and residents of Telaga Bhakti who have been committed and consistent until they achieved Proklim Village status.
“In addition to celebrating the achievement with the entire team from Telaga Bhakti, do not forget PT PLB, who sincerely fostered and helped all needs through corporate responsibility, which is meaningful and sustainable,” said Faisal.
Before the sun became warmer, the participants began planting together in Telaga Bhakti Village. Hundreds of trees were planted, including various fruit trees such as mango, jackfruit, guava, longan, grapefruit, and many more.
“We will continue to guard and foster Telaga Bhakti Village and other villages, especially around the company, so that they can follow in the footsteps of villages that have been named pro-climate villages,” said Riduan Manik, Community Development Area Manager Aceh, through Teguh Arief Wibowo, Community Development Officer of PT PLB.
Teguh emphasized that PT PLB is fully committed to contributing to maintaining environmental sustainability through various activities that support the impact of climate change as a concern for the earth and the environment in synergy with corporate responsibility.
