Jambi (ANTARA) – PT Sari Aditya Loka (SAL), one of the oil palm plantation companies in Merangin Regency, Jambi, channeled its CSR funds to provide basic necessities to residents and groups of Suku Anak Dalam (SAD) or known as Orang Rimba to prevent stunting.
“In an effort to prevent stunting and alleviate poverty in Merangin Regency, a plantation company PT Sari Aditya Loka distributed basic food assistance to indigenous people or Suku Anak Dalam (SAD) residents in Mentawak Satu Housing,” said Acting Merangin Regent Mukti, Tuesday (21/11).
The assistance was channeled through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds from the company as a form of social responsibility in the corporate environment and gratefully many private companies that help SAD residents in Merangin Regency, especially in Mentawak Satu Housing.
According to him, this is a sign that all the basic needs of the SAD residents are well met. As an oil palm plantation company in the middle of the community, the company routinely holds CSR programs including routine programs at the Integrated Service Post (posyandu), distribution of supplementary food, and the fast planting fast harvest movement for Suku Anak Dalam residents in the Merangin area, namely the Sikar group, Ngepas group, Tampung group and Pajang group.
The collaboration to prevent stunting with the local government is carried out in collaboration with the local government and the private sector in stunting prevention to realize the golden generation. This effort focuses on 12 toddlers and six pregnant women, two posyandu units consisting of 12 posyandu cadres spread across Nalo Tantan and Mentawak Districts from 2008 to 2023.
This program is in line with local and central government programs listed in the 2020-2024 RPJMN in dealing with stunting. The program is run by mobilizing ‘health agents’ in collaboration with local health centers (health collaboration) in an effort to reduce and prevent stunting in the community.
“Health agents play a role in educating pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, food consumption patterns, fetal and toddler parenting, as well as family planning (KB) education by visiting SAD residences and in implementing this program PT SAL collaborates with the health office, Community Health Center (puskesmas), village and local governments, and posyandu cadres,” said Mukti.
The involvement of these parties is a catalyst for good program collaboration. In addition, in each process the parties can exchange knowledge and experiences related to realizing quality human resources. On that occasion, the Merangin Regent also had the opportunity to harvest the first chili peppers grown by SAD residents.
Mukti also mentioned that SAD residents are increasingly good at farming to meet their needs and we are very amazed to see many SAD children who are smart and critical in asking for assistance from the Government. This is thanks to the guidance and learning carried out by the company that has contributed to the local government.
On this occasion, the Acting Regent along with Sudono CDAM Jambi Area, and Slamet Riyadi CSR Assistant of PT SAL, also ensured that all SAD residents could participate in the 2024 Election. For this reason, ID card recording is carried out so that all SAD residents have ID cards.
