On a breezy but bright afternoon, there was a long queue of trucks in front of a new-looking building called Anjungan. A few partitions separated some rooms, including a waiting room complete with coffee, tea, snacks and even wifi, like waiting room facilities in general.
Partnerships between companies and all stakeholders are crucial in management and operations. This is no exception for the oil palm plantation of PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk’s subsidiary in West Aceh, PT Karya Tanah Subur (KTS). As one of the national oil palm plantation companies, developing partnerships based on the needs of farmers and suppliers of Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB), in addition to supporting the supply of raw materials, is also a means of supporting the improvement of the community’s economy.
Through the Supplier Journey concept, the company tries to dig deeper into all aspects that partners go through from the operational process of the plantation to personal needs that allow needs to arise.
PT KTS is the first subsidiary in Aceh that already has a program launched by Astra Agro in the form of this Partner Platform. The Partner Platform program provides the best experience and service to suppliers who are partners in PT KTS.
A breakthrough was made as one of the complementary facilities for the system being worked on, namely the Boarding System, whereby adopting the concept of boarding at the airport, this concept was also applied to arrange queues for suppliers in sending their FFB.
“We have been partnering with KTS since 2015, and now the service is much better, especially with this platform, we can regulate the entry time of our drivers, the queue is orderly, and our drivers are also comfortable waiting for unloading,” said Azhari, Director of UD Jaya Alam Raya, a FFB partner of PT KTS.
Azhari admitted that he was greatly helped by the partnership from PT KTS, he and his trading business had entered into a fertilizer supply partnership contract that had been running for five years, not only PT KTS also provide a partnership for the procurement of transport units in the form of drum trucks which were given without any payment, which would later be paid in instalments with FFB entering PT KTS.
“The production that we deposit to PT KTS, approximately 3000 tons/month, the partnership offered is very helpful to us, especially the partnership of transport equipment that is used daily by our drivers,” he added.
The Partner Platform provided at PT KTS serves to provide comfort to partners in the process of transporting FFB to the mill while waiting for the unloading queue. The queue of vehicles is arranged in the parking lot so that it is neatly organized and provides safety while queuing. Fruit delivery time is also adjusted to the needs and managed so that the process of transporting and unloading fruit is more effective and efficient.
“During the loading and unloading process of palm fruit bunches from the truck to the mill, the driver has to wait. So this platform is an innovation made for them to wait while resting. This is an innovative platform for them to wait and rest,” said Ahmad Husein, Partnership Operational Senior Officer in the Partnership Management division at PT KTS.
Furthermore, Husein said, Astra Agro also made a breakthrough by launching an internet-based system to support services to suppliers. Information Control and Astra Agro Lestari Platform (Kinanti), the Kinanti system, he said, is designed to monitor and control all activities and processes of receiving FFB from the parking area to enter the factory. All activities will be monitored directly by the head office in Jakarta. “PT KTS hopes to provide solutions for the community of planters as well as collectors and suppliers of FFB around the company,” said Husein.
