PT GSIP-AMR (Astra Agro Lestari Group) focuses on community development and empowerment, aiming to enhance the quality of human resources beginning at the grassroots level. One of the key initiatives involved is the coaching of Posyandu (integrated service posts), as these programs actively engage mothers in the community.
Their role is crucial in shaping and educating the next generation of a smart and moral nation, both at home and in the community. For instance, Lisa Agustina, a housewife, integrates her knowledge of parenting into toddler classes at the posyandu she oversees. “Posyandu places women, especially housewives who serve as cadres, at the forefront of building a healthy community,” stated Febriansyah, Community Development Area Manager of PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk in Central Kalimantan.
Lina Agustina is the Chairperson of Posyandu Teratai assisted by PT GSIP-AMR, a subsidiary of Astra Agro Group.
The self-sacrifice of mothers who voluntarily provide integrated basic health services for their country is truly inspiring, according to Febriansyah. “A mother’s intuition in understanding her children’s needs enhances services that are closest to the community. This is reflected in the creation of interactive and creative health programs, such as toddler classes,” he added.
As a mother of two, Lisa is motivated to share her parenting experiences with other parents. Through Posyandu, she developed a toddler class that focuses on enhancing children’s sensory and motor skills, ultimately contributing to the improvement of the nation’s intelligence. “In addition to monitoring physical growth and development, we strive to offer health services that provide added value. This platform allows Posyandu to serve as a discussion space for parents regarding parenting, which supports the development of children’s brains, character, and psychology,” Lisa explained.
With this commitment, Lisa noted that interactions between parents and children have increased. Many mothers often seek personal consultations on parenting or share stories about their children’s behavior changes, noting that their kids have become more active after attending toddler classes at Posyandu Teratai. The devotion of the mothers who volunteer to provide integrated basic health services is very inspiring, according to Febriansyah. “A mother’s intuition in understanding the needs of children supports services that are closest to the community. This is expressed by creating interactive and creative health programs such as toddler classes,” he added. As a mother of two, Lisa is motivated to share her ‘parenting’ experience with other parents.
Through Posyandu, she developed a toddler class that focuses on developing children’s sensory and motor skills that support the improvement of the nation’s generation’s intelligence. “Not only monitoring growth and development in children’s physical health, we also try to provide health services that can offer added value. With this platform, posyandu can offer a discussion space for parents in terms of parenting that certainly supports the development of the child’s brain, character and psychology,” Lisa said. With this commitment, Lisa said the interaction between parents and children has increased. Not infrequently, many mothers conduct personal consultations on ‘parenting’ or simply share stories about changes in child behavior that become more active after attending toddler classes at Posyandu Teratai.
With the assistance of PT GSIP-AMR, Posyandu Teratai provides balanced nutrition every month during its activities. According to Lisa, children’s growth and development are heavily influenced by good overall parenting, which includes meeting their nutritional needs through balanced nutrition guidelines. This initiative has garnered the highest award at the Astra Festival for being an innovative CSR program in the health sector.
“After the class, many parents start trying to stimulate their children at home. We also exchange ideas about children’s diets, especially among mothers whose children have begun receiving complementary foods,” Lisa explained.
Lisa’s efforts in educating the community and providing public services in Pangkalan Bun, Central Kalimantan, serve as an inspiration for other women to actively contribute to creating a healthy and intelligent next generation. As a housewife, Lisa takes pride in her ability to support her community. “Fortunately, the support from the company encourages us to keep moving forward and work to ensure public health is prioritized. The toddler-class innovation has also become a model for other villages supported by PT GSIP-AMR,” she added.
Astra Agro is committed to making contributions that benefit communities around its oil palm plantations through four CSR pillars: economy, health, education, and environment. The Posyandu serves as a forum for community empowerment in the health sector and focuses on ensuring that health access reaches all levels of society. With the support of the Plantation’s Polyclinic (Polibun), Astra Agro continues to enhance community healthcare services.
