The ecosystem connecting local businesses with the Suku Anak Dalam (SAD) groups increasingly serves as an incubator for collaboration.
In Sarolangun, Jambi, locally owned businesses are partnering with SAD groups to produce lemongrass oil. PT Sari Aditya Loka (SAL), part of the Astra Agro Lestari Group, serves as a business incubator for the collaboration between the two groups.
A business incubator is an institution that provides facilities and business development for small businesses. PT SAL has initiated the SEHATI Rimbo (Serai Harum Kanti Rimbo), a partnership program between Blessing Serai Wangi (BSW) local business and SAD.
Previously, SAD residents received the Agriculture Learning Center (ALC) program from PT SAL, which consisted of a plot of land for agricultural practice and training. Meanwhile, BSW receives a guaranteed supply of raw materials and marketing assistance.
BSW business, led by Hendri Sumasto, partnered with SAD in 2023. Hendri mentioned that his MSME has been operational since 2022.
Although the business was established in 2022, joining the program in 2024 significantly increased its supply of raw materials and improved marketing efforts. “We have seen substantial production management and marketing progress, leading to increased income and expanded reach. Our monthly turnover now ranges from Rp10 million to Rp12 million,” Hendri explained.
Initially, fragrant lemongrass oil was marketed only in Sarolangun Regency. However, Hendri noted that PT SAL has assisted in expanding their marketing efforts to a national level, connecting them with the Indonesian Palm Oil Association (GAPKI) and participating in the Indonesian Palm Oil Conference (IPOC) in 2024.
In addition to promotion and marketing support, Hendri and his team received assistance with production materials, packaging training, and digital marketing strategies.
Hendri hopes that the ecosystem developed with SAD and PT SAL will continue to evolve and create a strong, valuable synergy between them.
PT SAL CSR Assistant Slamet Riyadi stated that the company aims to be a business incubator for BSW Business and SAD groups, helping both improve their living standards.
According to him, the Sehati Rimbo program aims to develop local communities that live harmoniously with the company.
Another goal is to align with the 2030 Sustainability Aspiration in Public Contribution. This involves enhancing CSR programs in the economic sector and increasing the number of beneficiaries through the Sehati Rimbo program.
These community development programs aim to enhance the local economy. The knowledge gained, and entrepreneurial support offered are intended to positively influence the community’s economic condition.
“This program is relevant and impactful because it is based on the needs and desires of the community,” he concluded.
