NUSA DUA – Minister of Trade Enggartiasto Lukito said that government gave their biggest support to the Palm Oil Industry. Even, in facing global vegetable oil competition. “If Europe disrupt palm oil, we can disrupt their milk powder,” He said at 13th International Palm Oil Conference and 2018 Price Outlook audience in Nusa Dua Bali, November 3rd 2017.
He even doubt the power of Europe when face with Indonesian opposition in global trading. “what would they become if we don’t export our Palm Oil,” Said Enggar.
It’s not a baseless statement, according to him, Indonesian Palm Oil Industry are the most obedient to the rules. Besides, Palm Oil has grow from a small scale industry to the most contribute comodity in Indonesian Economy.
Palm Oil strategic role in Indonesian economy are shown through the facts that palm oil is the largest export revenue in Indonesia, through 15 millions USD per August 2017. Palm Oil industry also contribute in making a large employment.
Enggar hope that all parties are strenghtening the collaboration and resist any black campaign. He thinks that government should keep doing mediation with other countries to make Palm Oil Accepted and treated with fairness in International Market.
In his speech at annual conference with topic “Growth through Productivity: Partnership with Smallholder”, Minister of Trade also emphasize the importance of strong collaboration to support Palm Oil Industry
In relation with it, government has done various step to build sustainable palm oil through strenghtening ISPO and cooperation with Malaysia, which is also Palm Oil Producer Country. Many social issues are solved by guaranteeing minimum wage for the palm oil workers and facility enhancement for workers in palm oil plantation.
“What we need is strong collaboration between all stakeholders to overcome palm oil related problems,”Said Enggar. He termed that caring attitude as “a sense of palm oil incorporated.”
In order to get recognition related to palm oil cost-effective aspect, Minister of Trade said that costumers, businessmen and other stakeholders should develop an early warning system. So that a swift action can be taken in palm oil getting a discimination in exporting market.(*)
