Pelalawan – Cooperation between companies and communities is very important, especially in the oil palm plantation business. PT Sari Lembah Subur (SLS) is committed to establishing partnerships with oil palm farming communities.
This was revealed by Lasturi, Partnership Support Operational in charge of PT Sari Lembah Subur (SLS), located in Genduang Village, Pelalawan, Riau, the company has since the beginning established cooperation with the community and oil palm farmers.
According to him, the presence of this company from the Astra Agro Lestari group is closely related to the government’s efforts to succeed in the transmigration program in the late 1980s. The government provided the land, SLS played a role in opening up jobs and working with the community in oil palm farming.
“If there were no company, maybe the transmigrants would not feel at home and ask to go home,” said Sumari Azis Biantoro, a historical actor and community leader heavily involved in the community’s oil palm plantation business.
Lasturi continued, and until now, the company’s commitment to cooperation and improving the welfare of the community has continued. Under the partnership program, SLS collaborates with oil palm farmers. Several services have been prepared to make the cooperation enjoyable and profitable for the oil palm farming community.
“We create programs that can help the farming community benefit from cooperation with the company,” said Lasturi on Wednesday (30/04/2024).
Lasturi also hopes these programs can improve plantation yields and make company partners comfortable working together.
Some of the programs that SLS has created are partnership programs for procuring vehicle units, both for private vehicles and vehicles for fruit transportation. Then, there is a heavy equipment procurement program for excavators, graders, and the like. The company helps provide the units, and the partners pay in installments by selling the harvested fruit bunches immediately.
There are also programs to provide fertilizers, herbicides, leaf analysis partnerships, and transport partnerships. In the transport partnership, the company prepares vehicles for fruit transportation. The partner will pay the transportation fee through the sale of the TBS.
“We hope that the community will be better served so that they will feel the benefits of the company’s presence,” said Lasturi.*
