Astra Agro’s oil palm plantation subsidiary, PT Waru Kaltim Plantation (WKP), continues to show its support for the community by assisting the road repairment project in Bangun Mulya Village, Waru District, Penajam Paser Utara Regency (PPU) on Thursday (07/18/2024).
Moreover, the repair project was conducted in three different areas: road repair in RT 05 along 10 meters, the grade of the entrance road to the Lirboyo Islamic boarding school, and repair of the RT 03 spring road along 15 meters. In addition, the Company assisted with the cemetery site construction and provided eight rit of sand gravel.
Eko Andrianto, Administrator of PT WKP, said that the Company’s management initiated the road repairment in the ring-1 village area due to its deteriorating state.
“This CSR program is PT WKP’s support for the road infrastructure development for the community who resides near Company’s operational area. The program is certainly in line with government programs related to sustainable development infrastructure,” he said. PT WKP will continue synergising with village and sub-district governments to help ring-1 villagers.
The road repair program is the Company’s commitment to mobilising the community’s economy around its working area.
“The road repairment program has also contributed to the CSR program launched by the government. The Company provides bulldozers and single drum rollers, including fuel oil. We also provide dump trucks to transport materials to improve road infrastructure for ring-1 villagers,” said Eko Andrianto.
He added that the Bangun Mulya Village authorities initially requested the road improvement program through discussions, which the Company then followed up on. Meanwhile, Boiran, the head of Bangun Mulya Village, expressed his gratitude to PT WKP for the assistance provided.
“We need this assistance because the village government has limited tools to carry out road repairs and including in making graveyard sites for non-Muslim cemeteries,” he said. He hopes that activities like this will continue because they are helpful and have positive value for citizens.
