“I want to help empower the farmers in my area,” said MT Pauzan after the graduation procession.
On Thursday, August 7, 2024, the young man who left his hometown in Bukit Suban Village, Sarolangun, Jambi, to pursue his education had just graduated. He completed his studies at the Bogor Agricultural Development Polytechnic (Polbangtan). His final project was on Farmer Behavior towards the Use of Organic Fertilizers.
This news is certainly very pleasing. Pauzan’s graduation further strengthens the belief that the SAD community, Orang Rimba, has the potential and power to progress and develop.
External support is crucial in promoting the self-reliance of this community, which is often perceived as an isolated and underdeveloped tribe.
Since the beginning, Pauzan has been part of PT Sari Aditya Loka’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, an Astra Agro Group oil palm plantation company operating in Sarolangun, Jambi. The Company is located next to the SAD community.
PT Sari Aditya Loka and Pauzan were first introduced through a scholarship program when he was in junior high school. After graduation, the Company’s scholarship continued to support Pauzan’s studies at SMK Perkebunan MM 52, Yogyakarta.
“Not only financial support, the company also provided assistance that made it easier for me to attend classes,” said Pauzan.
The Company had also encouraged Pauzan to be disciplined and persistent in completing his education.
Pauzan admits that he is interested in agriculture. He believes that the nature where he lives has a lot of potential.
Unfortunately, as far as Pauzan knows, there are very few people who are experts in agriculture where he lives with the SAD Community, near Bukit Dua Belas National Park, Jambi.
That’s why he said he wanted to utilize his knowledge for the advancement and independence of the Anak Dalam tribe.
“I am proud of Pauzan, who is enthusiastic and disciplined in his studies. He also graduated on time,” said lecturer and Head of the Department of Agriculture, Polbangtan Bogor, Ait Maryani, SP, M.Pd.
She also expressed her gratitude to PT Astra Agro for assisting Fauzan in completing his studies at the Polbangtan campus in Bogor, Bantolo.
