PT Astra Agro Lestari (AALI), through its subsidiary PT Waru Kaltim Plantation (WKP), continues to support education by providing scholarships to outstanding students from external schools in the company’s Ring-1 area.
These scholarships reflect PT WKP’s commitment to human resource development in its operational areas. As a business operating in Waru Sub-district, PT WKP recognizes the vital role that education plays in fostering a competitive young generation.
The scholarship program aims to assist exceptional students in pursuing their academic goals without the burden of financial constraints.
Machmud from the Education, Youth, and Sports Office of PPU expressed gratitude for PT WKP’s contributions to education. “We are very thankful to PT WKP for consistently demonstrating its commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) in the field of education. We hope to collaborate further in enhancing teacher competencies, particularly for accommodating students with special needs, especially since all schools must accept these learners by 2025. With this scholarship, we are confident that students will be more motivated to study,” Machmud said.
Similarly, Ahmad Yani, S.TP., Head of Waru Sub-District, commended PT WKP for its contributions to the community. “PT WKP is a company that consistently implements its CSR programs. We hope other companies can follow this example and engage similarly. Thank you, PT WKP, for your dedication and active involvement thus far,” Ahmad Yani noted.
Eko Andrianto, Administrator of PT WKP, expressed his hopes that this scholarship program would inspire students to continue enhancing their achievements. “This initiative represents our commitment to fostering a learning spirit among students in the surrounding area. We hope they can attain higher achievements and compete positively,” he stated. As of 2022, Astra Agro has provided scholarships to 2,220 children, supporting their academic and non-academic achievements from elementary through high school.
