PT Rimbunan Alam Santosa (PT RAS), a subsidiary of the Astra Agro Lestari Group, has contributed to the construction of a mosque in Peleru Village, located in North Morowali Regency, Central Sulawesi.
The palm oil company provided financial support for the building of the Al-Ikhsan Mosque in Peleru Village. This donation was received by M. Todingan, the chairman of the mosque construction, Muhammad Zakir, the chairman of the Peleru Village Consultative Body (BPD), and Arman Amrullah, the Village Head.
Once completed, the mosque will be the largest place of worship for Muslims in Peleru Village, despite the ongoing construction.
Peleru Village Head Arman Amrullah stated that PT RAS is a company that consistently supports its community.
“Although our village is not directly adjacent to the company, PT RAS is always willing to help us,” he explained a few days ago (January 15, 2025).
Arman mentioned that the support for constructing the mosque is just one example of the many ways the community receives assistance. According to him, PT RAS serves as a partner and friend to the community due to the close relationship between the village and the company, which is stronger than the spacing between trees in oil palm plantations. The assistance provided can include funding, facilities, and infrastructure.
In recent years, the village head has noted that PT RAS has frequently helped with repairing main roads and access to community gardens, building bridges, and constructing fences for village offices.
Peleru BPD Chairman Muhammad Zakir expressed gratitude for PT RAS’s support, particularly for supplying clean water to residents during the dry season and traditional celebrations. He also emphasized the community’s appreciation for the company’s assistance in constructing the mosque.
“Although PT RAS’s plantation is far from our village, we always feel their presence nearby. I hope everything continues to go well,” he remarked.
Meanwhile, PT RAS Community Development Officer Reymond Ugi explained that the assistance provided to the community is expected to positively impact the worship activities of the Muslim residents in Peleru Village. “The assistance with mosque construction in Peleru Village aligns with our commitment to prosper alongside the nation. We are beginning our efforts in areas within our territory to create a broader impact on the community.
