On January 21st, 2025, PT Lestari Tani Teladan (PT LTT), a subsidiary of Astra Agro Lestari, successfully executed a joint corn planting program in the operational area of the Rio Pakava District in Donggala Regency, Central Sulawesi.
This initiative is part of a national program to simultaneously plant corn across 1 million hectares, which seeks to enhance food self-sufficiency in Indonesia.
The simultaneous corn planting program is a national priority focused on improving food security, utilizing available land, and fostering collaboration across various sectors.
Various parties attended the joint corn planting program, including Donggala Police, representatives of Rio Pakava Police, representatives of Rio Pakava Koramil, representatives of Rio Pakava Subdistrict, village heads, the Head of BPP Rio Pakava Subdistrict, and PT LTT management.
The Donggala Police Chief, through AKP Zainuddin S.SI.P, showed appreciation for PT LTT’s readiness to organize the event.
“We at the Police commend PT LTT for their readiness, both prior to the corn intercropping event and during the simultaneous planting of 1 million hectares for food self-sufficiency” said Zainuddin
Ari Iswahyudi, the Administrator of PT LTT, explained that joint corn planting activities were conducted across all Astra Agro operational areas, which include Sumatra, Kalimantan, and Sulawesi.
“This initiative clearly demonstrates Astra Agro’s dedication to supporting food self-sufficiency,” stated Ari.
Ari emphasized that Astra Agro’s initiative recognizes the crucial role of the agribusiness sector in supporting national food security.
He stated that Astra Agro’s vision aligns with the government’s goal of enhancing the community’s welfare through corn productivity improvement as a key commodity.
The planting process is carried out systematically, starting with land preparation and planting, and concluding with post-planting management. Each phase aims to optimize production yields while ensuring the sustainability of the surrounding ecosystem.
“We hope this program serves as a strategic step toward strengthening national food sovereignty and improving the welfare of local communities and farmers. With optimal production results, we are confident that we can make a significant contribution to reducing corn imports, enhancing the community’s economy, and supporting Indonesia’s food self-sufficiency,” Ari concluded.
