PT Eka Dura Indonesia (EDI) has been conducting extensive corn planting efforts to boost domestic production and support the government’s national food security program.
A subsidiary of Astra Agro Lestari organized a joint corn planting event within its Cultivation Rights Title (HGU) area on Tuesday, April 2nd.
Dwi Setiyo Budiawan, the PT EDI Administrator, stated that this program aims to achieve production targets and provide maximum empowerment to farmers.
According to Dwi, PT EDI has adopted a comprehensive approach to implement the government’s food security program. The agricultural practices adhere to standards by using high-quality hybrid corn seeds, providing intensive technical assistance to farmers, and conducting gradual evaluations to maximize productivity.
“We have formed a special team and a planned organizational structure for corn planting to ensure optimal yields,” Dwi told elaeis.co, Wednesday (5/2).
A number of community leaders attended the simultaneous corn planting event, reflecting the high attention of cross-agencies to this program. Present at the event were Kunto Darussalam Police Chief AKP Buyung Kardinal, Kunto Darussalam Sub-District Head Dedi Saputra, Danramil, and Kota Lama Village Head.
Kunto Darussalam Police Chief AKP Buyung Kardinal stated that the corn self-sufficiency program is a national initiative involving various stakeholders, including oil palm plantation companies. This program aligns with the Asta Cita initiative of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, which aims to improve food security.
Kunto Darussalam, Sub-District Head Dedi Saputra, expressed strong optimism about this collaboration. “Our presence alongside Muspika elements demonstrates the government’s commitment to supporting the agricultural sector. We believe that by working together with various stakeholders, we can achieve optimal productivity,” he stated.
PT EDI’s corn planting program significantly increases national corn production and serves as a model for a collaborative approach that brings together companies, security forces, and local governments to ensure sustainable food security.
