Astra Agro Lestari Tbk. (AALI)’s subsidiary, PT Sari Aditya Loka (SAL), is an oil palm plantation company that is committed to sustainable development and shows concern for the surrounding community.
Through a free meal assistance program for Suku Anak Dalam (SAD) children, PT SAL and the government benefit 412 children spread across 13 learning centres, ranging from PAUD to college in Merangin Regency and Sarolangun Regency.
The program is designed to provide children with adequate nutrition for their growth and development.
With the full support of the government and the SAD Social Empowerment Forum, PT SAL hopes to improve the quality of life and future of the young generation of Suku Anak Dalam.
PT Sari Aditya Loka’s administrator, Rian Rizaldi, emphasized the importance of nutrition for children and the company’s commitment to supporting the welfare of the surrounding community.
“This free meal assistance program has been running since 2010 and has had a significant positive impact. Access to adequate nutrition improves the health of SAD children and the quality of their education,” said Rian.
PT SAL’s commitment was appreciated by various parties, including Air Hitam Sub-District Head Haryono, who supported this program.
“We appreciate PT SAL’s contribution to supporting the education and health of SAD children. Hopefully, this cooperation will continue for the community’s welfare,” he said.
This program has impacted SAD children, including increased school attendance because their food needs have been met.
Then, increased learning concentration thanks to better nutrition, decreased malnutrition rates, and increased motivation for children to pursue their dreams. Bukit Suban Village Head, Ramli, expressed his appreciation for this initiative.
“This free food assistance is a tangible manifestation of PT SAL’s concern for the younger generation. We hope this program can continue so that SAD children can learn better and achieve more,” he said.
To ensure the program’s effectiveness, PT SAL is collaborating with the Integrated Service Post (Posyandu) and Community Health Center (Puskesmas) in the village. This is in line with government efforts to accelerate the reduction of stunting in Indonesia.
Nurani, one of the Posyandu cadres of Bukit Suban Village, revealed that besides receiving additional food assistance such as eggs and milk, they also received training related to fulfilling balanced nutrition.
“This program helps us carry out our duties at the Posyandu and provides a better understanding of child nutrition,” she said.
Similar programs are implemented in all Astra Agro subsidiaries in the Sumatra area, not only in Sarolangun and Merangin.
PT SAL’s commitment to improving nutrition and handling stunting is ongoing, ensuring children get regular nutritious intake.
With strong collaboration between the company and the government, this free meal assistance program is a clear example of how synergy can create a sustainable positive impact on society.
PT Sari Aditya Loka is committed to continue supporting efforts to improve the welfare and future of the nation’s next generation.
