The floods that have hit Jakluay Village in recent days have had a significant impact on the community. Heavy rainfall and the overflowing of the Wahau and Telen rivers exacerbated the condition, resulting in waterlogged access to the village. This condition has isolated the community from the main access, making it difficult to carry out daily activities.
Recognizing this situation, palm oil company PT Karyanusa Ekadaya (KED), a subsidiary of PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk (AALI), provided assistance as a form of concern and corporate social responsibility to the surrounding community. The aid distributed aims to ease the burden of the victims in fulfilling their daily needs in line with the company’s commitment to support community welfare.
PT KED’s Administrator, Rasid, said that this assistance is a form of the company’s concern and empathy for the people affected by the flood in Jakluay Village, Muara Wahau District, East Kutai Regency.
“We try to respond as quickly as possible in dealing with this flood disaster. High rainfall at the beginning of the year caused the river to overflow and had a direct impact on local residents. Therefore, as part of our commitment to the community, we are here to help residents affected by the flood,” said Rasid.
Rasid also added, in distributing this assistance, PT KED not only seeks to ease the burden on the affected communities, but also hopes to provide tangible benefits that are felt directly by the residents. In addition, through this activity, the company wants to continue to strengthen harmonious relationships with the surrounding community and build a sense of togetherness.
In the midst of the disaster, the local community welcomed the assistance provided by the company. The Head of Jakluay Hamlet, Arman, expressed his gratitude to PT KED for the assistance that has been distributed.
