PT Astra Agro Lestari 1 demonstrates its commitment to supporting government programmes through various Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. This palm oil company not only focuses on business but also strives to positively impact the surrounding community.
The company actively supports several government programmes in education, community empowerment, health, infrastructure improvement, and food security.
Nurul Huda, the CSR Assistant of PT Astra Agro Lestari (AAL) – PT Bharda Cemerlang (BCL), stated that in the field of education, they have already provided scholarships to schools within the company’s immediate vicinity. “We have provided scholarships to 32 schools in the first ring, benefiting approximately 192 students,” he said.
“Alhamdulillah, this was realized in January, and we plan to enhance this initiative,” he added during a media gathering in Tanjung recently. Huda explained that, in addition to scholarships, they also offer internship opportunities to support education and introduce students to the working world. “We accept interns from several schools with which we have a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), and this internship programme has been running for several years,” he noted.
Regarding community empowerment, the palm oil company has worked with dozens of villages and established partnerships with village-owned enterprises (Bumdes), village cooperatives (KUD), and farmer groups. “We are currently developing 21 villages, which we support with our team. Our goal is to help the community grow and thrive,” he explained.
Successful examples of collaboration include the Bumdes in Kembang Kuning and Hayup, located in Haruai District. “Essentially, we strive to provide the best for the surrounding community,” he added.
Huda also mentioned ongoing improvements to road infrastructure, stating, “We continuously maintain the road infrastructure, which is used by both the company and the community to boost their economy.”
Additionally, the company participates in various government programs, including discussions on stunting, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), posyandu (integrated health service posts), village deliberations, and food security initiatives. “We always ensure our programs are synchronized with government initiatives,” Huda clarified.
He concluded by reaffirming the company’s commitment to enhancing its CSR program to support government efforts: “In the future, we will continue to improve this CSR program, as it fundamentally supports the government’s mission.”
